This is a beta, and the installers are not yet store-signed. Minuted works — people use it for real meetings every day — but it has not been through Microsoft’s or Google’s verification yet, so your browser and your operating system will both warn you about the download.
That warning means “we have not seen this file often enough to vouch for it”, not “we found something wrong with it”. The steps below are how you get past it. If you would rather wait for the store versions, they are on the way — join the list and we will tell you when they land.
Desktop
System-audio capture, live transcription, tray app with a global hotkey.
- Run the installer. Minuted lands in the system tray.
- Nothing else to set up — the transcription model ships inside it.
- Ctrl+Shift+R starts and stops recording from anywhere.
Your browser will block it first.
- The download appears with a warning instead of finishing. Choose Keep.
- A confirmation appears. The Delete button has a small arrow beside it — open that and choose Keep anyway. This step is easy to miss, and the download will not finish without it.
- Run the file. Windows shows Windows protected your PC: click More info, then Run anyway.
Mobile
Room mode for in-person meetings, and recording that survives a locked screen.
- Allow install from unknown sources, then install the APK.
- Grant microphone access. The model downloads on first use.
- Turn on room mode when the phone is on the table.
Android will warn you too.
- Your browser asks whether to keep the file — choose Download anyway.
- Opening it asks for permission to install from this app. Allow it, then come back and tap the file again.
- Play Protect says the developer is unknown. Choose More details, then Install anyway.
Prefer an MSIX? It is on the releases page with the signing certificate and past versions. It installs by running an included PowerShell script as administrator, so the installer above is the easier route unless you specifically want the packaged build.
Running it fully offline
Transcription is already on-device. Add Ollama and point Minuted at it in Settings, and the write-up happens on your hardware too — at which point the network is optional.
